It's safe to say that winter has officially arrived here in Joburg and along with plummeting temperatures and sunny skies it's also brought about one of my favourite traditions... drinking lots and lots of coffee. Unfortunately for me, I don't have a coffee machine and since I can't pop out to grab my favourite salted caramel latte, due to Coronavirus, I've turned to instant coffee sachets instead. In fact, I've tried so many that I thought I would round up my top five to try for my fellow coffee lovers that could really do with a great cuppa round about now.
5. Nescafe Gold Milky Bar Cappuccino
I have to admit that I was super excited to try this when I first saw it. However, I was quite disappointed by the taste or lack thereof. I think I expected it to taste more along the lines of white hot chocolate, when it just tasted like a nice cappuccino that was a touch sweeter than usual. It's still an enjoyable drink, although you should also note that the pack has eight sachets as opposed to the usual ten, but still costs the same.
4. Woolworths Instant Cafe Latte
This creamy cafe latte is the ultimate drink for first thing in the morning. It's not too rich, but has a great coffee flavour and smooth, creamy texture.
3. Nescafe Gold Salted Caramel Latte
If you prefer stronger coffee, Nescafe's instant drinks are just the tickets. I'm personally partial to the Salted Caramel Latte which is the ultimate comfort drink for this time of year.
2. Woolworths Instant Cappuccino
With it's authentic taste and silky smooth texture, it's easy to imagine that this drink has actually been made by a barista. Seriously, it's next best to the real thing.
1. Hug in a Mug Hazelnut Cappuccino.
This cappuccino stick has been my absolute favourite for the past five years and truth be told I'm sure it will be my favourite for the next five. It has a really unique flavour that's not too sweet, but not to strong either. I highly, highly recommend trying it.
