By this time of year, the heat of summer is nothing but a memory and hitting the rails in search of some new fall sweaters is at the top of everyone's mind – or at least mine. That's why I've rounded up some of my favourite winter trends.
Comfy is cute
Athleisure is the trend of wearing sportswear, like joggers and trainers, anywhere you want not just to the gym or to do a workout. It’s definitely not a new trend, but it’s certainly one that’s here to stay. Athleisure is one of my favourite trends for the season because it’s comfortable, cosy and complements staying at home very, very well. Seriously, who doesn’t want to live in leggings?
How to style it: The key to nailing this trend is by mixing athletic pieces like a pair of joggers with more refined pieces like a leather jacket or cute handbag.
Hair of the dog
Another trend that’s been circulating a while is Houndstooth also known as Shepherd’s Check. This timeless print was made popular by designer, Christian Dior in the 1960s and has made a reappearance on the fashion scene, but this time in modern silhouettes.
How to style it: A classic and sophisticated way to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe is through a coat or blazer. If you’re afraid of too much pattern, try buying an accessory like a blanket scarf in Houndstooth and wearing it with an all-black outfit.
Shearling is a sure thing
Say goodbye to puffer jackets as Shearling jackets are the next big thing for winter! However, they are quite pricey due to the fact that they are made from sheep skin and tanned suede. That being said a Shearling jacket is an investment piece that you’ll be able to keep in your wardrobe for years and years, not to mention that they’re extremely warm! However, if you don’t feel like committing, rather go for a faux-shearling jacket, which will cost half the money and look just as good as the real thing.
How to style it: Shearling jackets are super simple to style and work with just about everything. However, I suggest pairing the jacket with a graphic tee, black skinny jeans and boots for a casual yet chic look.
Slip up
Slip skirts may be an item of clothing that conjure up memories of hot summers days, but trust me, this trend is proving that it’s just as versatile as it is stylish and can be easily worn in the colder months. Wearing a chunky jumper over a slip skirt is a trend that’s been popularised by bloggers and one that’s not going away anytime soon.
How to style it: By pairing a slip skirt with a chunky jumper and pair of tekkies or boots, you can take your skirt from summer soiree to sipping a cup of hot chocolate fireside in no time. I suggest wearing a slightly cropped jumper to add some waist definition and prevent you from looking frumpy. If you’re feeling a bit nippy it’s also a great idea to layer some tights under the skirt.
Very nice post! Amaze!!!
